Rafter M Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit, all volunteer organization that provides specialized therapeutic horseback riding lessons for people with disabilities.

Located in beautiful Southern Illinois, we offer four sessions a year from the Rafter M headquarters in Harrisburg, IL. Recreational programs for people with disabilities are very limited. Horseback riding is an activity in which people with varying abilities may participate.

Every year in September we have our major fundraiser, the Trail Ride and Silent Auction. Rafter M is supported primarily by contributions from private individuals and civic groups. Funds go towards the cost of insurance, special equipment, care of the horses and lesson fees for those unable to pay.

As in any non-profit program, we need help from all kinds of people. Volunteers are the heart of the program, and are needed as sidewalkers and leaders during lessons. We also need help with public relations and fundraising.

This is Goldie, our mini-horse! She is our mascot here online. If you view the photo gallery, you can see more of her and the horses that make our program possible.
